Dream On 2006 – Dream On, Cos Dreams Don't Need Reasons to Live
To ASEAN Scholars regardless of race, language, or religion
Re : Call for Volunteers to do Street Sales of Album and to Collect Donations
We are "Dream On" - a committee running a youth-initiated CIP project, supported and sponsored by National Youth Council (NYC) ,CitiBank-YMCA Youth For Causes, Young NTUC, DXO, Power 98 radio station etc. Funds and donations collected go directly to our beneficiary - The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. We would like to put up a request for ASEAN Scholars to help Dream On publicize our event to the students so that we are able to reach out to more youths. Below is a brief description of our project and we hope that ASEAN Scholars can lend us your support in this project.
Aims of the project
1. To raise funds for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund to help needy students.
2. To encourage youths to take up a positive attitude while pursuing their dreams.
The reason why we chose the name "Dream On" is because the phrase can be interpreted in 2 different ways. Often, when people say " Dream On", they mean to tell you to give up. However, "Dream On" in our context has a total opposite meaning. We tell the youths to literally " Dream On" - to continue pursuing their dreams with a positive mindset, to take action and bring their dreams to live. Through the inspiring lyrics and youthful tunes that have been specially composed, we hope to convey the message - " dream on, cos dreams don't need reasons to live"
Our project comprises several aspects. The main idea is to compile an original music album that will be sold to raise funds for our chosen VWO. The CD features - Debbie Tjong (VJC), Eternal Loop (AJC), Charles (TJC), Krashed Lines, Black Forest, LGF, Tiet, Dancing Nancies, Mocca and many more! 1500 copies of the album will be printed and sold to the public.
Our concert - Dream On@DXO will be organized on the 22nd of July (from 6 to 10 pm) at DXO to showcase the songs. Our Guest-of-Honour launching our event on that day would be Dr Vivian Balakrishnan Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Second Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts and Chairman of National Youth Council.
We have also invited guest performers such as Plain Sunset, Lucid Vapour(VJC), Fatskunks, Glitched, Dancing Nancies and more to join us at the concert. Tickets are sold at $15 each - and it comes with a free Dream On Album. Alternatively, grab a Dream On Album at $15 and get a Dream On@DXO ticket for free! Proceeds from album/ticket sales are donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. Listen out for us on Power 98 radio station from the 11th to 22nd of July and also look out for our Dream On Postcards at all ZoCard racks islandwide.
