ASEAN DANCE 2006!
A Night To Remember: Moulin Rouge
hmm...i just came back from laundry service n im like so free lar..study time but nth to study =P heheh..term one attitude here..
anyway i thought since this is our ac msian scholars blog..shldnt this event at least get the honor of having a blog up in it name?
right-o so im probably not the best person to write about it..shldnt we ask esther, organiser? or atlee, newly-discovered dancing talent? or ronald, lady's man? ( ahem----> note the singular 'lady' haha =P)
but ya i wanted to.
so this is like the 2nd post im putting up about it? but wat the heck...im still high after that night..;}
so u guys took the bus ya? i got there earlier lar ;} right..i'll try my best to gv an objective point of view..the bus dropped us (??) off at Grand Copthorne Hotel. Loacated next to zouk i'm sure some of us (???) had entertained thoughts of sneaking off in the middle of the night n trying the clubbing scene? right? yes ken admit it =P
The hotel looked promising enough.nothing to shabby, surely we cant expect the J.W. Marriot..but at least its better then Hotel Selesa.
The malaysians dressed to the nines..okayyyy..maybe to the eights only lar..i guess that rebellious slacker AC spirit is now firmly instilled in all of us..so anyway we were waiting for the dance thingie to start..hmmm..it started at like 7.30 lar..while we were there since 6.30..oh well im sure everyone was patient enough right..ndp being not too long ago n all ;} so wat cld we do den but mingle..n mingle we did..
oh did i mention the theme moulin rouge totally fell flat amongst the tropical flowers n oriental nuts? but anyway expected no one cld pull off a nicole kidman corset in singapore..so anyway...
after a while the nuts+soda+socialising got tiring...we did sort of start to wonder wats on the agenda...i bet the girls in heel especially felt it ;)
oh it did start off..althought its sad the the sound system wasnt really reaching into every corner off the room..resulting in the emcee being drowned in the din..but hey when it got started it got started well..
first there was..hmmm..im not so sure about the order..the American band started us off with a few songs..got the crowd going for a while there..nth to over the top..hmmm..the lead singer was cute (majority's opinion k )...then we had the introduction of the nominees for king queen buaya and buayi of the night..
how come i cldnt recognise the AC nominees? lol..anyway on a note there..i think prisca (?) won the award for buayi ;) it was kinda one sided because surely everyone would vote for the representatives of their own JC so only those who came in big groups stand a chance of winning..but wat to do... * shrugs*
after that came the fun part! dancing! sad to say i guess a few ppl were reluctant about dancing..hv to admit clubbing isnt that big a thing among youths in msia..ditto indo/phili/viet/thai anyone?so maybe that would account for the 'segan' atmosphere of dancing..and only those who were in a whole group of ppl dancing actually dared to let loose..oh well..sayang lar..
funny thing was when some guys just started showing off their moves to the hip hop music and the rest of the crowd formed a ring..sort of a like a challenging dancing contest..cool ya..we got to see some slick moves..but then again..doesnt that sort of remind u of the scene from the movie White Chicks?
anyway..still had fun grooving tho...n den there were performances by a few dancers rfom diff JCs..quite good leh they all..
oh one highlight of the night was the RJ band! oh man this needs graphic description..wats with dressing up like an SIA stewardess? especially when ur a a guy? case of mistaken identity?n d hair..n d howling?!?! honestly THAT wasnt singing..obviously we know where RJ strengths lie..heheh..ok no more snide remarks bout our rival JC..ppl there really are nice ppl ;)
anyway i guess abt half.or more than half of the ppl left the hall when they performed..they were downright awful ( n yes im being very objective already)..n the decibel range was waaaayyyy too high...u cldnt hear urself shout in there..maybe the crowd shld hv boo-ed them? hmmm.. wat say u alex? were u mesmerized or disgusted? ;}
so after that they had more of the american band..after the hip hop n dance music earlier on the band was a little...subdued? like not really music to make u wanna let go ;)
so ya this is the part where i exit..
...
...
...
so when i came back there was *gasp* slow music! n couples everywhere..if hormones were visible i'd be seing an ocean of them..so well i shant post up here who danced with who n how many n for how long n how close..no no..u want the juicy news u come directly n ask me k ;) haha..so well..the slow dancing lasted right up to the end..i noe everyone eventually danced with sumone..i think..
oh i forgot to mention..they were selling roses to give out? n opened the mike to dedications..but y lar only open to the guys..sum girls are quite vocal abt their feelings to u noe..discrimination!lol..
n had to admit..ya it was fun..in fact the slowdancing was better than expected i guess..
the it was an abrupt end to the night..hmmm..cldnt the emcee hv been a little less harsh..oh well..must hv sucked to hv been the party pooper..then everyone gathered in their JCs to take pics..n well..it was almost 12 by the time everyone got on the bus...
i noe our feet were killing us, right gals? ;)
the our hero for the night : ken! , managed to persuade the guard to open up the gates for the bus driver to drive in..im sure u earned some points among the girls..haha..
well..guess thats the end to the dance...kinda ended too soon? wats with the ruling abt all partys to end at 12? =P
but was really an experience lar..Just for one night ;)

Celebration for juniors
Hey there..
This is the first time I write something in this blog.. hmm... kind of excited haha..
Well, I notice that people do not actually like write a blog but sort of using it for photo, video or information sharing..
So, let this "senior" start writing something personal for this particular title.
Haha, basically it was just because I realised how well the juniors did for their term exams, hence I suggested to have a celebration. Well, I understand that some of them may not think that they had done well but truely I think that it was not as bad as fail all the 4 subs. So I think we should have a celebration. And also because I think that if we don't celebrate, nobody will celebrate for them, then they may not be able to remember what they have done which is worth happy about. And happiness should be shared among friends. Personally I feel pround of them.
So we went out to eat this tang yuen dou hua at the Bukit Timah Food Court. We set off at about 730pm and reached there abt 8 sth... We took quite a long time to wait for 151.. Haha... n we met Ke Lun they all there... but they did not stay n joined us... Tian Boon said they just finished their dinner...
I think most of us ordered some finger food to eat but some guys bought noodles, seemed like they did not have enough for dinner. However, later on some of them realised they should not have bought them I guess, cz the dessert is quite filling. But I like it!!! It was very nice, the dou hua was smooth n soft, the tang yuen were big(there were 4), nice to chew and got peanuts or balck sesame inside..... oooh...... N I was quite surprised that they put dou shui oso.. which is very different from what I used to eat..
I bought for Esther, Janene, Steph, Christina, Allen n Wei Kit. I dunno for guys but the gals all said it was nice!!! Haha, feel very happy about that. And actually I had a small little thought that why m I so nice to them haha... I would think that it is nice to sort of be a blessing to the others like how Jesus is a blessing to us. When I think abt this I just feel like to being nice to people. But I still need to improve bcz there are some people that I know I may not be as nice to them but jz normal bcz I dun have e passion to be nice to them(??), haha.. I dunno la...
Hmm... I think I will never forget that I come to AC to study and this bunch of scholars in NUS High and the time I have spent with them. I'll try my best to remember... not only the good things but also some "bad things" like Im called "the fat one", "the unfilial one", n I make someone have no appetite to eat... haha... I will try my best to record everything here so that later on if I happen to forget can refer here.. haha...
Lastly, nice to meet you all... You all are very wonderful!!!!
