Posting/Retrieving stuffs from the shared folders..

Hey there peoples.. we have been accessing each other's folders via the hostel network thingy.. so like yeah.. follow these simple steps to get stuffs! mainly photos lah.. :)

Uploading Files to My Network Places

1. Copy/Move the file you want to share to a shareable folder. (The one which i use is 'Shared documents' under My Computer)
2. Right click the folder you would want to share and click 'Properties'.
3. Click on the 'Sharing' tab and under 'Network sharing and security', make sure the 'Share this folder on the network' box is ticked.
4. When you go back to the folder, it should show some kind of hand holding it. This means that the folder is now shared. Hurrah!

For convenience's sake, our computers are under a workgroup.. to set it to the workgroup:
1. On your Desktop, right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
2. Click on the 'Computer Name' tab.
3. There will be a section where it says 'To rename this computer or join a workgroup, click change'. Well, click change! =)
4. Change the name of your computer to your liking but set the workgroup name to 'VISTA'.
5. Click Ok till everything looks right..
6. Tell Wei Kit if it works! =)

Retrieving Files from My Network Places

1. Click Start.
2. Click My Network Places
3. Click View Workgroup computers from the sidebar.
4. Look for our stuffs! I'll normally have photos from my comp, msianidle..
